Walking the best exercise
Walking is mans best medicine. No other exercise is better for you heart and cardiovascular system. Most towns have walking paths in local parks or surrounding areas, and if not theres always the sidewalks you can use. Some people are lucky enough to live in rural areas which gives you the option of walking in fields (with the owners permission of course) or along little traveled dirt roads. In my opinion walking in fields is the better form of exercise as you have to watch where you're going, stepping over grass clumps, in and out of ditches, as well as going up and down hills. In short you get more exercise per mile than you would walking along a flat smooth path,trail,or sidewalk. Some of us are not lucky enough to live near a safe walking area, and in such a case a treadmill fits the bill quiet nicely, and if you are one of those people with a big yard, you can always drive your car or bike in a circle around it paying close attention to the odometer. Drive around it one time, check the odometer, then divide that distance by 5,280 ft and it will show you how man times you have to walk around your yard to make one mile. For instance if your yard is 1/6 of a mile around, walk around it 6 times to make a mile. |
